Our Sustainability Promise

Mellangoose Farm Flowers was born out of a love for floristry using British garden flowers. Garden flowers are grown outside, shaped by the weather and reflect the seasons. They bear little resemblance to the mass produced imported flowers that crowd our supermarkets and high street florists.

Where the food industry has led the way, encouraging consumers to think about where their food comes from, there's a slow shift toward the same with flowers. We believe it's important to know how cut flowers are grown and where they're grown, so informed decisions can be made.
We're a proud member of Flowers From The Farm, a network of small scale British flower growers. If we need to supplement a flower order with additional stems, we always go to our local Flowers From The Farm colleagues.

Grown in harmony with nature
We grow our flowers and foliage using organic methods to enhance the biodiversity of our six acre farm and help protect our precious Cornish ecosystem. This means that we don't use any chemical sprays or plant feed. Growing organically allows us to work in harmony with nature, protecting our pollinators and enriching our soil.
Because we grow almost all our produce outside, we rarely need to water. Where and when we do water our plants, we do so as sustainably as possible, using rain water harvested from our potting shed roof.

Our floristry is created using sustainable practices. We never use floral foam due to it's catastrophic environmental impact. Instead we supply our flowers in water.
Bridal flowers are supplied in a vase or water. For floral arrangements, we use chicken wire which can be recycled and re-usable floral frogs.
